Henry P Simonak

June 2, 1928 — May 18, 2020

Henry Simonak passed away on May 18, 2020 after a brief illness.

Predeceased by his cherished wife Dorothy (nee DeVoursney) and his brother John Andrew Simonak he is survived by, his dear sister Barbara Wynne and her husband Donald, sister-in-law Dottie Simonak, his treasured companion Mrs. Lila Corley, his children, Susan, Michael, Helen, Steven, Lidija. A doting grandfather, loved by his grandchildren, Anna, Garth, Elizabeth, Sean, Victoria, Fabian, Steven, Angela, Jonah, Alex and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Henry was born June 2, 1928 to the late John Simonak and Theresa Stvartak Simonak. A lifelong resident of Lyndhurst, he graduated from Lyndhurst High School in 1945. Henry attended business classes at Fairleigh Dickinson at night, while starting his career at Equitable Insurance Company in New York. He started in the mailroom at 16, and retired as Vice President in a career that spanned more than 40 years. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was an active parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.

Sim, (to his friends and colleagues, Pop-Pop to the grandkids, Henry to some, but dont call him Hank!) had a very active retirement, he loved gardening and tending to his flowers, golfing, fishing, going to the Elks club or spending time at the track. “Pop-Pop is never home” we would exclaim every time we passed his empty driveway. He was always on time and always in the mood for a laugh and a good scotch. A life well lived by a man well loved.
