Robert Charles Swiatek

October 25, 1938 — July 30, 2023

Swiatek, Robert “Bob” Charles, 84, of Fairfield, New Jersey, formerly of Clifton, New Jersey, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, July 30, 2023. Beloved husband of Jacqueline (née Pranio) Swiatek of 60 years. Son of the late Sophie (née Sudol) and the late Casmir Swiatek. Loving father of Robert & his wife Janice Swiatek, Kevin & his wife Katie Swiatek, and Lynda & her husband Keith Harring. Dear brother of Pauline & her husband John Joy. Cherished grandfather of Dr. Jani & her husband Dr. Nicholas Janigian, Carli & her husband William Mewton, Dr. Kayla Swiatek, Robby Swiatek, Taylor Swiatek, Kaylyn Harring, Kali Harring, Keith Harring, and Karsen Harring. Adored great-grandfather of Nora Mewton. Dear brother-in-law of Joyce and Richard Cimera, Patricia and the late John Sabbak. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.


Mr. Swiatek graduated from Rutgers University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and continued his education to receive a Master’s Degree from NJIT. He was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and Phi Mu Epsilon Fraternities. After graduating from the United States Naval Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI, he served four years as a Lieutenant, JG, in the U.S. Navy with the Seabees. While stationed at Davisville, RI, he taught Biological Warfare among his many duties. Mr. Swiatek was a Mechanical Engineer for General Motors and General Bearing where he obtained many patents before retiring in 2008.


Mr. Swiatek was a resident of Fairfield for 58 years where he enjoyed coaching his sons’ Little League Baseball teams. He also served as a trustee for the Ocean Beach Surf Club in Ocean Beach, NJ where he spent his summers enjoying boating and the beach. Mr. Swiatek enjoyed traveling with his wife, which took them to many countries and islands around the world.


Mr. Swiatek was a loving family man whose kindness touched many hearts. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. A special military burial will be held on Mr. Swiatek’s birthday, October 25, 2023, at the military cemetery, Fort Indian Gap, Annville, PA.


Family and friends will be received Monday, August 7th, 9-10:30 a.m. at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, NJ. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Fairfield, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the Swiatek Family is requesting a Mass be dedicated in Mr. Swiatek’s honor at St. Thomas More R.C. Church, Fairfield, NJ, 973-227-0055.
