Agnes Lynch

July 12, 1911 — March 17, 2012

Agnes Lynch, 100, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the home she shared with her son-in-law Robert Porphy. Mrs. Lynch was born on July 12, 1911 in Jersey City to John and Mary Hayes. She resided most of her life in Jersey City before moving to Lyndhurst in 1996. Mrs. Lynch was married to Michael J. Lynch on March 27, 1931 and was the proud and loving mother of seven children. She was grandmother (Nanny) to seventeen grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren and for great-great grandchildren. Her family was her life and thankfully she was able to enjoy many wonderful times with each of them. During her life, Mrs. Lynch witnessed many changes that occured in history. "The Great Depression" taught her never to take what you have for granted and to always work hard to hold on to what you have. This way of thinking also helped her support and care for her family when her husband was away during WWII. Mrs. Lynch traveled by bus to California with three children and one on the way to work in the California shipyards. Her employment also included working for Clorox, Armours and Jersey City Medical Center where she retired as a Dietary Aide. Mrs. Lynch was noted by many as having the best "Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration" in Lyndhurst. Many people came each year to share the day with her and she loved to be with all of them. Mrs. Lynch is pre-deceased by her parents, husband, siblings John Kelly and Annie Roskos and her sons, Michael Lynch, John Lynch, and her daughters, Helen Mahoney, Patricia Porphy, Joyce Barbito and her grandson, Kevin Greene. She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Margaret Rzeczkowski (Stanley), Janet Jensen (Edward), her daughter-in-law Frances Lynch, her sons-in-law, Robert Porphy and William Barbito, her beautiful grandchildren, Dr. K. Shiva her devoted physician for the past 26 years and many friends. Funeral Thursday at 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10AM Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. Friends will be received Wednesday 5-9PM. Mrs Lynch will be buried with her daughter Patricia at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
