AGOSTINO R. PUGLIESE, M.D.
Dr. Agostino R.Pugliese, of Fairfield, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his family. Born in Spilinga (Vibo Valentia) Italy, Agostino graduated from L'Universita' di Roma Scuola di Medicina. In 1953, he emigrated to the United States and completed his residency at Martland Medical Center in Newark and continued to study pathology at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson. In 1960, Agostino opened his private practice in family medicine in Newark and was affiliated with St. James, St. Michael's and Columbus Hospitals in Newark, where he was an esteemed member in good standing until his retirement in 2001. He played soccer as a youth and his love of the sport continued throughout his life, following his favorite team Internazionale of Milan. A man of few words, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, who adored him. Agostino is survived by his devoted wife, Maria Teresa; his loving children, son Anthony & his wife Assunta and daughter Mary Theresa & her husband Michael Pontoriero; his beloved grandchildren, Agostino, Paolo, Teresa, Mark, Maria Isabella & Natasha; his brother, Frank. Funeral Saturday 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral Mass 10AM St. Thomas More R.C. Church. Entombment Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum. Friends will be received Friday 4-8PM. At Agostino's request, please omit sending flowers and donations.
