Alexander P. Kairys, Jr

Kairys, Alexander P, 75, of North Arlington, New Jersey, passed away on June 27, 2024. Beloved husband of Geraldine R Kairys. Loving father of Robert & his wife Genevieve Kairys, Daughter Jennifer Vecchio, and Son Matthew Kairys. Dear brother of Kenneth & his wife Jackie Kairys, Caren Andreycak, Patricia & her husband Greg Weixel, and Steven & his wife Ellen Kairys. Cherished grandfather of Daniel Vecchio, Robert Kairys, Jr., Lexie Vecchio, and John Kairys. “Uncle Sandy” to many cousins, Nephews and Nieces. Sandy enjoyed his Atlantic City Casino trips with Gerrie and their Winery getaways. His favorite past times were backyard barbecues, sitting in the sun on the deck, Friday nights with the Popcorn Club at the firehouse, Rutt’s Hut and cheering for his Miami Dolphins and NY Mets. Mr. Kairys was an active member for 35 years with the North Arlington Fire Department, and Chief of Department in 1996. He worked for the NJ Turnpike as a toll collector from 1990-2011, prior to that he drove a truck for Trip Distributors. He was also a member of the North Arlington Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 105 in Belleville, and was one of the original members of the North Arlington Emergency Squad. Mr. Kairys also served in the Army Reserves from 1969-1974. Funeral Wednesday 10 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 11 AM Queen of Peace R.C. Church.
