Alice Maryann Rooth

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Alice Maryann Rooth (95) of Bayonne, NJ on July 15, 2023. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family.

Alice was born on June 21, 1928 in Bayonne to Charles and Sophie Zaniewski. She retired from her position as administrator at the State of New Jersey Health and Human Services. She was a registered nurse with her Master’s Degree. She was an active member of the Concerned Citizens of Bayonne, the Red Hatters, the Downtown Seniors and St. Henry’s Rosary Society. She also loved her years as a bowler with the Castaways and was an avid Mets fan.

Alice was predeceased by her husband John. She is survived by her daughter Sharon, her son John (Mary), and daughter Cindy (Mary). Also survived by her grandchildren Joanna (Paulo) and Stephen, and great-grandchildren Devyn, Victoria, Dominic and Dean.

Friends, family and all whose lives she touched are invited to celebrate her life at Caiola Stellato Funeral Home (691 Avenue C, Bayonne) on Tuesday, July 18 from 4-8pm. A funeral mass will be offered at St. Henry RC Church (82 West 29th St, Bayonne) on Wednesday, July 19 at 10:45am. Burial to follow - Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Henry RC Church “Coffee with St. Henry” fund.
