Alphonse Thomas Esposito, 91, of Fairfield, NJ died on Monday October 6, 2014 at the home of his daughter Cynthia and son-in-law Gregory Judd of Land o Lakes, FL. Beloved Father of Rosalind of Tampa, FL, Cynthia of Land o Lakes, FL, and Diane and son-in-law Joseph Handel of Manalapan, NJ. Loving Grandfather of Danielle, Alexander, and Michael. Caring Great Grandfather of Bella and Natassia. He was predeceased by his wife Beatrice, his daughter Petrina, and his siblings Dominick, John and Ann. Mr. Esposito was a licensed electrical contractor and retired from the Fairfield Maintenance Company. He served as a SGT in the United States Army as a Military Policeman from April 1, 1943 to February 16, 1946. He was a member of the Fairfield Fire Department and was awarded lifetime membership on May 13, 1978. Mr. Esposito was also a member of the Fairfield VFW. Alphonse was a staple of his community, one of the original pillars in the foundation of Fairfield and the last of the Esposito Brothers Farm generation which provided produce for Newark Farmers Market and ShopRite Stores. The 52 acre produce farm was located at 180 Hollywood Ave now Esposito Dr., Kennedy Dr., Crestwood Ave., Midvale Ave., and Dell Ct. Alphonse continued to grow tomatoes at his home on Hollywood Ave., Fairfield. Funeral Tuesday October 14, 2014 at 9AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield, New Jersey. Funeral Mass 10:00 am St. Thomas More R.C. Church. Interment to follow Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover. Friends will be received Sunday, October 12, 2014 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm & also Monday, October 13, 2014 2 to 4 pm.
