Anna V. Caravello, 96, died November 22, 2010 at the Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NH after a period of declining health. She was born January 6, 1914 in Jersey City, NJ, daughter of the late Giovanni and Vincenza Tantillo. Anna grew up in Jersey City, in the shadow of the New York City skyline and view of the Statue of Liberty. She resided in Jersey City for 82 years and worked as a seamstress and sample hand dressmaker at Sipkin Corporation. Mrs. Caravello was a active member of St. Peter's Church in Jersey City and a member of the St. Peter's Preparatory School PTA. She used her creative skills to do custom embroidery work for the altar clothes at St. Peter's. Anna married Santo Caravello in 1940 and was predeceased by him in 1993. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Frances & Robert DiTursi of Barrington NH; her son and daughter-in-law John & Lynn Caravello of Aiken, SC; her granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Julie DiTursi McPhee & Cory McPhee of Epping, NH; her grandson and granddaughter-in-law Robert & Ana DiTursi Chittenden, VT; two great-grandsons, Luca & Nico DiTursi of Chittenden, VT; one great-granddaughter, Nola McPhee of Epping, NH. Funeral Tuesday at 10 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ. Funeral Mass 11 AM Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday 8:30-10:30AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in her memory to the Barrington Emergency Services Association, 137 Ramsdell Lane, Barrington NH 03825.
