September 10, 1915 — January 15, 2017

Basile, Anthony, of Toms River formerly of Fort Lee, NJ passed away on January 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. Son of deceased parents James & Katherine Basile of Fort Lee. He is survived by his loving wife Theresa of 61 years of marriage, his daughters Theresa & her husband Ric Bortz of Palisades Park, Michele & her husband Steve Thompson of Wyckoff, sister Rose Toscano of Bergenfield, brother Jack & his wife Cindy of Cape Cod, daughter-in-law Beth Basile of Point Pleasant, grandchildren Dr. Erin Bortz of Palisades Park, Eric Bortz of Sunbury, PA, Kelyn Bortz of Fairlawn, Allison Thompson of Hoboken, Alexa Kraemer of Brick, Michael Basile of Florida, great-granddaughter, Ava Rose Bortz. Predeceased by son Michael, sisters Katherine and Florence, brothers Joseph Basile, James Basile and Dominick Basile. Born and raised in Fort Lee, Mr. Basile attended Madonna School and graduated from Fort Lee High School. He joined CCC after high school. He served in California for 6 months, returned home and was employed at Alcoa in Edgewater. He was in the US Marine Corps in World War II in the Pacific, after he was discharged he returned to Alcoa and worked for 28 years. He was president of Local 316 USWA, joined International Union USWA, Pittsburg on Staff Rep for 20 years, was a member of VFW Post 2342 Fort Lee and American Legion Post #129. He was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in Bayville, NJ. Funeral Thursday 8:30AM from the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Funeral Mass 9:30AM Madonna Church on the Hill. Interment George Washington Memorial Park. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Jimmy Vida, VFW Post 2342, 250 Main Street, Fort Lee NJ 07024.
