Anthony DiBrito

March 28, 1929 — September 10, 2024

Lyndhurst

Anthony DiBrito, a cherished father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on September 10, 2024, at the age of 95.

Born on March 28, 1929, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Anthony led a life marked by courage, friendliness, and a wonderful sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him.

After graduating from Dickinson High School in Jersey City, Anthony displayed his love and dedication to his country by joining the Army in 1951, bravely serving in the Korean War, where he earned the Army Commendation Medal for his meritorious service. Upon his honorable discharge in 1956, he returned to his hometown, where he would meet and go on to marry the love of his life, Rosalie Episcopo. Together they built a family, welcoming their daughter Denise and son Anthony Jr. They raised their children in what would become their lifelong home and in what would prove to be Anthony’s favorite place in the entire world, Lyndhurst, New Jersey. He found great joy and pride in his unwavering dedication to his beloved family, and he cherished every moment spent with them.

Anthony spent 20 years at Western Electric in NYC before leaving to spend the next 20 years with the NYC Transit Authority, working as a Car Inspector and remained there until his retirement.

He enjoyed bocci, bowling, dancing, live music, word search puzzles, card games and being at the Colonial Diner where he was a regular fixture. Anthony enjoyed every opportunity he had to share time with a loved one whether it was a dear neighbor on the block, a friendly face at the diner or a beloved family member around the dinner table.

His wife Rosalie predeceased him, but his legacy will proudly live on through the lives of his daughter Denise DiBrito, his son Anthony DiBrito Jr. and daughter-in-law Shari, his sister Louise Acampora, and the memory of his brother-in-law Michael, his grandchildren, Jillian Findlay and her husband Jason, Rachel Hecht and her husband Robert, and his great-grandchildren Jacob Findlay, and Kylie and Kate Hecht, who will all miss him dearly.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who were a part of his life. His journey was made richer by the friendships he formed and the community he so dearly loved.

May we all carry on his legacy, honor his immense pride, love and service to his country and as he always said, may “God Bless America”.
