Tony was born in Jersey City on July 7, 1933. He was captain of the Dickinson High School football team and President of his class, graduating in 1950. After graduating high school, he later married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Joan B. Matraxia. Together, they built a loving family after relocating to North Arlington. They remained happily married for 63 years until, sadly, she passed away in 2017.
After graduating Seton Hall, he began his career in education, ultimately obtaining a Masters Degree in Education Administration. He was a dedicated and highly respected educator his entire life, until he retired in 1992 as a Principal for Clarendon School in Secaucus.

After retirement, he and Joan relocated to Lakewood N.J.where he continued his pursuit of many interests, such as jogging, golfing, and swimming. He also expanded his interests to include joining the Oceanaires, a local barbershop group, and painting. Through it all, he always remained extremely inquisitive; he was an avid reader of history, novels, and poetry.

Tony was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Carmella; his sisters, Mary, Angelina, and Lucy, and his two brothers, Carmine and Thomas.

He is survived by his two children : Tony DElia (and his wife, Elinor) and Lynn Johnson (and her husband, Wayne). He was also the proud and loving grandfather of his four grandchildren; Kyle Deanna, Sofia and Alissa and recently became great-grandfather to the newest addition to his family, Brielle.

We love him and will keep him in our hearts and minds forever!
