Asuncion Vazquez

Asuncion Vazquez passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the age of 100 in Lyndhurst, NJ. Asuncion was born to Manuel and Josefa Rios-Lopez in Bergondo-Miodelo, La Corua, Spain, where she grew up alongside her five siblings, the late Manuel, Jose, Juan, Carmen, and Josefa. Beloved wife of the late Antonio, she is survived by her loving children, Antonia and Jose Ramon; her daughter-in-law Deborah; and her adoring grandchildren Megan and Sarah.

First arriving in the United States in 1971, Asuncion worked as a seamstress in New York Citys garment district for 12 years, including a stint for famed designer Bill Blass. A devoted mother and grandmother, she dedicated her later years to caring for her family, especially her granddaughters, in Brooklyn, NY. She will be remembered for her loving spirit, her skilled hands that were expert at everything from dress-making to gardening to cooking, and her hearty, smile-inducing belly-laugh.

The funeral mass for Asuncion will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 12 P.M. at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington, NJ with the funeral service to follow. Funeral Arrangements under the direction of Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, Lyndhurst.
