Ben Labarbera

December 20, 1951 — July 16, 2022

Ben LaBarbera, age 70, left this world on Saturday, July 16, 2022. Born December 20, 1951 in Alessandria della Rocca, Sicily, he immigrated with his family to the United States in 1956. He spent the remainder of his childhood residing in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Not one to stay put for long, Ben spent his adult years in several New Jersey towns, among them, North Bergen, Closter, Fairview, Cliffside Park and Fort Lee. For the past fifteen years he was a resident of Lake Worth, Florida. Ben is predeceased by his mother, Maria Giuseppa LaBarbera (nee DiRaimondo), and his father, Vincenzo LaBarbera, of Elizabeth. He was the proud father of five children, Rocky LaBarbera & his wife Kristen LaBarbera (nee Bauer) of Dumont, Tiffany Slowinski & her husband Jake Slowinski of Bridgewater, Daniel LaBarbera & his wife Beatrice LaBarbera (nee Kraft) of Dumont, Gabriella LaBarbera of Brooklyn and Ben LaBarbera, Jr. of Atlanta. He was beloved and known as “Poppy” to his five grandchildren, Isabella, Hannah, Charlotte, Violet and Carter, and was excited about another granddaughter on the way. Ben was brother to Joe LaBarbiera & his wife Mary LaBarbiera (nee Lucibello) (deceased) of Ridgefield, Angie Adams & her husband Fred Adams (deceased) of Edison, Rose Ruvolo & her husband Joe Ruvolo of Colonia, and John LaBarbera & his wife Angelica LaBarbera (nee Razza) of Hoboken. He was also surrounded by many nieces and nephews. Ben liked to have a good time and was often the life of the party. He never met a stranger and appreciated sitting down for a good meal and conversation. Ben loved the adrenaline rush of the poker table and wasnt shy about staying up until the wee hours of the morning chasing a win. He equally enjoyed relaxing and could be found napping through every new release at the movie theater. An entrepreneur at heart, throughout his life Ben owned and operated several businesses. He is most known for his years running BLB Construction. Ben will always be remembered with a hammer in hand.
