Betty Ruth Cattle

Betty R. Cattle, 86, of Belleville, NJ, passed away peacefully at Mountainside Hospital on Wednesday, December 30th with her loving family at her side. A memorial visitation will be held at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, on Thursday, January 7, 2016, from 9 am to 10:30 am with a memorial service to begin at 10:30 am at the funeral home.
Betty was born in Newark, NJ on February 19, 1929. to the late Cornelia and William Connolly. Betty was married to the late Robert W. Cattle on May 1, 1949 and resided in Belleville, NJ. They were married for 43 years, until the time of his death in 1992. She is survived by her son, Robert Cattle, Jr., daughter Ruth Stives and her husband Anthony, and her grandson, The Rev. Jeffrey Calia, C.O. She was the dear sister of the late David Connolly and is survived by her loving sister-in-law Vitina Rizzo-Connolly, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A remarkable woman of strong and abiding faith, Betty was fiercely devoted to her family, friends and her church. Her family was her pride and joy. Betty was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Belleville, serving on the church council, altar guild, Women of the ELCA and in many other capacities for over 60 years. She was truly a guiding light to all who were blessed to know her. Her gentle but indomitable spirit, and her love, faith and devotion touched so many lives. She has left an indelible mark on the hearts of all her loved ones. Betty will be greatly missed but will never be forgotten.
