Bruce Charles Bartlett, 62, of Rutherford, NJ died on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 at home. Born in Passaic, he lived in Carlstadt until moving to Rutherford 38 years ago. He was a teacher for the Lyndhurst Board of Education for 25 years, retiring in 2003. Bruce was an Air Force veteran during the Viet Nam Era. He was a Rutherford Councilman and Former Council President. Prior to his tenure on the Council he served on the Rutherford Board of Education. Bruce was a member of the Bergen County Jamboree Committee, the Lyndhurst Teachers Association, the New Jersey Teachers Association and the Bergen-Passaic All Star Classic. He was a founding member for the East Rutherford-Becton Hall of Fame. He was the former President of the Bergen County Coaches Association and served as a coach for the Lyndhurst High School Boys Varsity Basketball Team, LHS Girls Junior Varsity Softball Team, and St. Mary's High School Football Team. He was a member of the St. Mary's Hall of Fame. Bruce received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Seton Hall University and his Masters of Arts degree from Farleigh Dickinson University. He is the beloved husband of JoAnn Bartlett (nee Zicchino) of Rutherford. Adored son of Ursula Bartlett McKeown (nee Flanagan). Loving father of Lynn Bartlett of WoodRidge, Brad Bartlett of Reston, Virginia, Charles Bartlett of Lyndhurst, and Jill Bartlett of Rutherford. Dear Brother of James Bartlett of GlenRock, Kathleen Shack of WoodRidge, Christine Castellano of Lyndhurst, Ursula Polignone of Monroe, NY and Barbara O'Rourke of Lyndhurst. Cherished grandfather of Evan James. Dear son-in-law of Helen Zicchino. The Funeral will be held on Saturday at 10:00am from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home 425 Ridge Rd. Lyndhurst with a 11:00 Funeral Mass at St. Mary's RC Church in Rutherford. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Lyndhurst. Friends will be received Thursday and Friday 2-4 & 7-9pm.
