Byron Merino

September 12, 1968 — May 8, 2021

Byron Merino, 52, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

He is survived and deeply cherished by his children Sophia, Matthew, & Mia. Beloved son of Esperanza & the late Felipe Merino. Dear brother of Carol & the late Rita Merino.

Mr. Merino received his B.S. in Finance from Rutgers University. Byron was a member of the Rutgers Newark chapter of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was a licensed U.S. National Soccer Coach, Certified Treasury Professional (CTP), member of Association for Financial Professionals (AFP), member of Treasury Management Association of New York (TMANY), Certified Corporate Trust Specialist (CCTS), and after a 20+ year career in Finance, he finished his career working in Global Corporate Banking at Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.

Byron was a loving father, son, brother, friend, godfather, uncle, and coach. He loved every bit of life and truly lived for his children. He had an uncanny ability to make every moment special. Time with Byron was always time well spent. Whenever you were around Byron you were always laughing, smiling, and learning something new. He inspired, he uplifted, and he always made sure to leave something better than how he found it. Byron was cultured, driven, analytical and had the ability to fill up any room with laughs that last for a lifetime. Byron was kind, compassionate, and stoic almost godlike while facing the wrath of his vicious disease for over 13 years.

With Byron gone, a piece of us will always be missing, but we know he is in the hands of God forever with his father Felipe and his sister Rita.
