Charles William Anthony Dilkes, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, October 13, 2016. Born in Neptune on September 8, 1940, he was a lifelong resident of Lyndhurst. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara Dilkes (nee Domanico), as well as his cherished daughters, Laura Thoresen & husband Bryant, Christine Dilkes Cook & husband Kerry, and his adored granddaughter, Chelsea Dilkes who brought him such joy and love. The happiest day in his life was the day he became a grandfather to Chelsea. He is also survived by his brothers Louis Dilkes, Robert Florre, Joseph Dilkes, Andrew Florre and Anthony Florre, sister, Janet Florre, and many nieces & nephews. He is predeceased by his father, Herbert Dilkes, mother Virginia, brothers, Raymond Ruggiero, Herbert Dilkes, Frank Florre, Jimmy Florre, and his sister Antoniette Florre. Charlie, as he was known to his friends, was a very outgoing and gregarious person who once you became his friend you were always his friend. Many of those friends he met as a professional tractor trailer driver and proud member of the Teamsters Union. Funeral service Thursday 10AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 11AM Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Cremation private. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
