Daniel A. Santarsiero, 60, of Fairfield, NJ passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010, at NYU Langone Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family after an inspirational 5 year battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma. Daniel was born in McKeesport, PA, and spent most of his life living in Fairfield, NJ. Left to cherish his memory are best friend and caregiver throughtout his illness, his loving wife of 38 years, Patricia (nee Calabria), his son Daniel M. Santarsiero, Esq., and his daughter Melissa and her husband John Bowlin, his brother, David Santarsiero, his mother-in-law, Angelina Calabria, and his pet companion, Hunter. He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Hessie Santarsiero, his brother, Andrew Santarsiero, and his father-in-law, Patsy Calabria. Dan was employed by UPS for 35 years, and retired in 2006. He was also the broker owner of Town House Realty in Nutley, NJ, from 1973 to 1979. He was a member of the West Essex Board of Realtors and the Knights of Columbus. He also served in the US Air Force National Guard Unit ES as Master Sergeant. Throughout reoccurrences of this disease Dan demonstrated courage, determination and steadfast faith. He became an inspiration to everyone who knew and met him. His positive attitude, faith and spiritual kindness reflected in all his life choices. Dan's strongest attribute was the ability to love without limits. He was opinionated, fearless, and generous and never hindered by his sickness. Dan's greatest love was for his family, and his pride in each of his children's successes was evident in his smile whenever he spoke of them. He possessed an incredible wit and was well-known for his marvelous sense of humor. The family wishes to express deep appreciation to the heroes at the NYU Clinical Cancer Center, the nurses and staff of 16 East of NYU Langone Medical Center, and especially Dr. Perry Cook, as well as Tina Feldman for their devotion to Dan. Funeral Saturday from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral Mass 12:15pm Notre Dame R.C. Church, North Caldwell. Interment Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Upper Montclair. Friends will be received 10AM-12PM Saturday.
