David San Martin

March 30, 1969 — December 28, 2021

David San Martin was born at North Hudson Hospital located in Weehawken, New Jersey on March 30, 1969. He was the beloved husband of Ilem Letouneaut; father of Joshua and Angelica San Martin and step-father of Melissa and Iris Hernandez. He is survived by his 84 year old mother, Lucia San Martin and siblings Robert, Natalia, and Isabel. His parents immigrated from Cuba to the United States in 1967. He grew up in Union City, New Jersey, attended Robert Waters Elementary school, and St. Josephs High School. David, married the love of his life Ilem on December 8, 1989, and they spent the last 32 years of their lives together. During this time, he went on to attend Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey and obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in 2001. He had a deep passion for US history, and could easily spout off interesting trivia that the average person wouldnt know. In 2014, he attended Hudson County Community College where he received an Associates degree in Accounting. For most of his life he continued to live in New Jersey, mostly in the Hudson county area, before acquiring his first home in one of the most ruralest parts of Northern Jersey. He was a hard worker, sole provider, and spent more than half of his life working for the NJ Turnpike Authority as a toll collector and plaza supervisor. He was an avid reader, a comic book enthusiast, an incredible figurine collector, and later in life enjoyed collecting specialty cigars. In his free time, he enjoyed visiting Barnes and Nobles and various movie theaters, particularly to see the latest DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and Star Trek productions. When it came to sports David enjoyed rooting for the New York Yankees and the New England Patriots. Of the many guests that visited the San Martin residence over the course of the years, the Amazon delivery driver was by far his favorite! A visitation will take place on Monday, January 3, 2022 from 4-8pm at the Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. A community mass will be offered on Tuesday, January 4th at 10:30am at Saint Frances de Sales Roman Catholic Church located at 614 County Rd 515, Vernon Township, New Jersey.
