Dennis D. Mccarthy

Dennis D. McCarthy, 74, of North Arlington, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, May 21, 2017. Dear former husband of Irene McCarthy. Loving father of David & his wife Alba McCarthy and Ryan McCarthy. Dear brother of Maureen Schultz. Mr. McCarthy grew up in West New York, NJ, attended the University of Notre Dame in the early 60s and served in the Army National Guard in New Jersey and Indiana from 1964-70. He worked at the Newark Chamber of Commerce in the early 70s, later owned a sporting goods store and was a bartender for many years. Most proudly, he was a renowned New Jersey high school football scouting expert who founded The McCarthy Report, one of the premier scouting services in the nation. He selflessly and honorably helped thousands of student athletes over the past three decades achieve their dreams of playing college football, including Heisman Trophy winners and Superbowl champions. Friends will be received Thursday 7-9PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
