Dolores Joan Capaccio

July 26, 1931 — December 26, 2022

Dolores Joan Capaccio, (nee Tessalone) 91, of Hamilton Square, NJ formerly of Lyndhurst NJ, died peacefully surrounded by her family on December 26, 2022. She was born in Lyndhurst and was daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Granata) Tessalone. In 1956, she married the love of her life Benjamin, and together they embarked on a world of adventures. After raising her daughter, she re-entered the workforce, as an Administrative Assistant for Becton Dickinson and Company, and later as the Senior Citizen Coordinator for the Township of Lyndhurst Recreation Department. She was a member and past president of the Amvets Womens Auxiliary Post #20. Dolores was a great support to her husband Ben who founded Lyndhursts first AARP Chapter #4319, and she became one of the first founding members. Dolores fiercely loved her family and will be remembered as always having a beautiful smile and being the kindest of souls. Her Catholic faith was a central part of her being which she was devoted to throughout her life. She was the most comfortable in her home where you would always find her baking, cooking, or gardening. In 1999, she and her husband moved to Hamilton Square, NJ to be near her daughter and family. Most importantly she became the beloved grandmother to her new granddaughter and was a present and active loving role model in her life. She quickly became active in her new Evergreen community where she sat on the board of trustees. She also organized many trips for her community, making many new friends and welcoming her neighbors.

She was the beloved wife of the late Benjamin Capaccio, loving mother of Mia and her husband Michael Pelosci, and adored grandmother of Ariana Pelosci. Dolores was the dear sister of the late Michael Tessalone and his wife Denise, Ann Tirgrath and her husband Howard, Robert Tessalone and his wife Sally, Edward Tessalone and his wife Annette, and Virginia Kelly and her husband Walter. She is survived by cherished sisters-in-law Josephine Abate LoGatto and Connie Capaccio DeLisi and loving aunt to her many nieces and nephews.
