Doris A. Sturges (nee Ray), 94, of Lyndhurst, NJ passed away on Saturday, June 20, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Robert H. Sturges, Sr. Loving companion of the late Irving Krone & Nicholas Vitellaro. Devoted mother of daughter Leatha Sturges-McAleese & her husband John, son Robert H. Sturges, Jr. & his wife Beth, daughter Patricia Sturges, and step-mother of Martin Krone, Steven Krone & his wife Jeanette, Phyllis Lenkowsky & her husband David and Lois Cox & her husband Paul. Cherished grandmother of Caroline Sturges-Appel, George Spalding Sturges, Kelly Ellen Collins, Kendall Braunstein, and step-grandmother of Jeffrey, Jennifer, & Joseph Krone and Scott & Jason Lenkowsky. Adored great-grandmother of Sofia Brooks Appel. Dear sister of the late Norman S. Ray, Jr. Admired aunt of Sandra Ray Miller, Joann Ray, Cheryl Ray, Donna Herberger, and Wayne Herberger. Also survived by many grand nieces and nephews. Mrs. Sturges was an activist serving as former president of the PTA & Mt. Carmel Rosary Society in Lyndhurst. Funeral Friday at 10AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ. Funeral Mass 11AM Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. Entombment Hillside Cemetery. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 7-9PM.
