Drew Anthony Wallace

July 3, 1957 — October 6, 2014

Drew A. Wallace, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, left us on October 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 3, 1957 in Zanesville, OH. He served as a Hospital Corpsman in the US Navy for 6 years and was a volunteer EMT for nearly 40 years, more than 20 of those in Lyndhurst. The last few years Drew worked for FEMA, which took him to many places across the country to assist with domestic disasters. While on those assignments, he became a family member to many of his co-workers. Most recently, Drew had been serving with the National Imat West unit out of Sacramento, CA. He had returned to NJ this summer to be with his family during his health struggles. He leaves behind his devoted children, Chris Wallace (Amanda), Kelly Wallace and Matt Wallace, all of NJ, and his former wife and close friend, Susan Donegan of NJ. Drew is survived by his mother, Catherine Wallace and his sister, Jane McMillian, both of TX, as well as brothers Dean and Mark Wallace of OH and Coye Wallace of NM. He was predeceased by his father, Anthony Wallace and brother, Eric Wallace. Drew left us much too soon and will be remembered by so many people as a gentle giant of a man who loved his family and friends and helping anyone he could. A memorial service is planned for Friday, October 10th at 6 PM at the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad on Delafield Avenue. Anyone who would like to make a charitable donation might consider one especially close to Drew's heart-the Lyndhurst Emergency Squad (or their local volunteer ambulance service) or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Arrangements under the direction of Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
