Edward J. Flanagan Sr., 80, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018. Beloved husband of the late Philomena Flanagan. Loving father of Elizabeth & her husband Kevin, Ann Marie & her husband Douglas Firestone, Edward J. Flanagan, and Michael F. & his wife Alicia Flanagan. Adored grandfather of Victoria, Vanessa, Eric, Dylan, Dora, Sara & Eliza. Mr. Flanagan was an Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Edward was a practicing Catholic his whole life. As a child and young man, he faithfully served as altar boy and usher for Holy Name Parish in the Upper Westside of Manhattan. As a devoted husband and father, he modeled Catholic values by volunteering as an usher and parent volunteer for St. Elizabeth's Parish in Washington Heights and as an usher and Eucharistic Minister for Our Lady Queen of Martyr's Parish in Inwood (New York City). Edward was a volunteer fire fighter. Catholicism and service to community and country were ideals him and his wife Philomena instilled in their children. Their legacy continues in their four children, their spouses and their seven grandchildren.
Funeral Mass Monday 10AM St. Michael's R. C. Church. Interment Pinelawn Memorial Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Friends will be received Sunday 1-5PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst.
