We are broken hearted to announce the passing of Edwin Ramirez, “Eddie”, 76 of East Rutherford, New Jersey, born in Jersey City, New Jersey. On Saturday, November 12, 2022, he passed after a sudden illness surrounded by family and friends. Ed is the beloved husband to Gloria M. (nee Olivencia) Gonzalez. Loving father of Troy and his wife Cassandra Ramirez. Robert and Michelle Gonzalez and William Jr. and Christina Gonzalez. Cherished grandfather of Jason, Mia, Ava, Heather, Amanda and Matthew. Adored Great Grandfather of Emilia Christina. Ed was predeceased by his parents and siblings; he leaves behind a niece Robin Dunkinson and Goddaughters Heather Ann Stankiewicz and Stacey Hague. Ed was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps, were he served his country with honor and pride earning several medals including 3 purple hearts in Vietnam. Ed was a generous man with both his time and money, donating to many charities supporting veterans, volunteering to feed the homeless and helping those less fortunate. Ed loved swimming, the beach and spending time traveling with his wife Gloria visiting friends, and his son Troy and grandson Jason. To Eddie a stranger was friend he hadnt met yet. He loved going to his daily breakfast spot to meet up with his buddies. He enjoyed making new friends and throwing barbecues for all. He was a lover of all things related to the U.S. Marine Corps, the Bible and being generous to others. Eddie retired from US Airways and continued to serve his community as a crossing guard and a proud VFW member. He could often be seen attending Veterans Day ceremonies at the local public schools. He will be missed by many. Friends and family can pay their respects at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, on Thursday, November 17th, from 2-4 and 7-9PM. Funeral Mass will be 10AM Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Lyndhurst, New Jersey. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington, New Jersey.
