Eleanor T Kavula

Eleanor T. Kavula (nee: Fabian) 89, passed away peacefully at the Bayonne Medical Center on April 22, 2020. She was born in Bayonne on October 7, 1930 to the late Andrew Fabian and his wife, Mary (Jacobcin).
The life-long Bayonne resident attended local schools and worked for many years at Maidenform in Bayonne and retired as a production supervisor. She later worked for the City of Bayonne from 1990 until 2007 as a receptionist/secretary for the Mayors Office and the Department of Public Works.
Eleanor was a devoted parishioner of Saint Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Bayonne from birth until the church was closed. She currently was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. While being a parishioner of Saint Josephs, she was very active in the activities of the parish. She served on numerous committees for various church events and was particularly dedicated for many years to dressing the altars and decorating the church for annual holidays.
Eleanor was also involved in community activities. She served as a longtime Democratic Committeewoman on Bayonnes Eastside. She also was the vice-president of the New Era Civic Club. Her favorite pastimes were shopping, cooking and baking Slovak foods and cakes for family and friends during holidays.
Eleanor was predeceased by her loving husband, George, and her dear daughter, Denise. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Pauline Madea (John), Mary Dorocki (William), and brother, Andrew Fabian (Rose). She is survived by her dear nieces, Karen Makowski (Joseph) of Bayonne, Cynthia Kong of Amarillo, Texas, and her dear nephews, J. Dennis Madea (Patricia) of Gainesville, Georgia, Kevin Dorocki, Robert Dorocki (Diane), and Kenneth Dorocki, all of Colonia. She also leaves many other relatives and friends, especially Barbara Ann Skowronski.
Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and CDC guidelines, private funeral services with entombment at Holy Cross Cemetary were conducted by the Koch Funeral Home. A memorial service will be planned in the future.
