It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ernestine Buchalski Favato on December 19, 2024 at the age of 86.
Born on July 3, 1938 in Jersey City to Charles and Mary Sofia, she lived most of her life on Staten Island, NY and later moved to the Jersey shore area.
She was the beloved wife of Anthony Favato, and prior to their marriage, was married to the late Robert Buchalski, Sr. for 54 years. Ernestine, or Nona, as she was lovingly referred to, was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She leaves her devoted daughter Debra Descloux and her husband Paul, her beloved sons, Robert Jr. and his wife Anna Marie, Brian and his wife Denise, and Greg Buchalski.
Nona leaves behind a legacy of love through her grandchildren, JP and Jacqueline Descloux; Greg Jr., Jack and Anna Buchalski; Brian Jr., Emily and Gary Buchalski; Joseph and Toni Ann Buchalski; and Kristina Osbourne and her husband Ryan. She was a cherished great grandmother to Mason and Makayla Osbourne. Her dear sister was the late Catherine Kneuppel.
In honoring her memory the family will hold a visitation to celebrate her wonderful life on Thursday, December 26 from 4 to 8 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral service Friday, December 27, 11 AM at the funeral home, followed by a chapel blessing and entombment at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum, 340 Ridge Rd, North Arlington.
Ernestine touched the lives of so many with her warmth, compassion and Italian cooking. There was always a seat at her table for family and friends! She will be dearly missed. Flowers and plants can be sent to the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
