Esther Defilippis

Esther DeFilippis (nee DeFilippis), 88, of Totowa, New Jersey passed peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 10, 2018. She was born and raised in the First Ward section of Newark and graduated from Central High. In 1963, her husband's job moved her and her family to Washington, NJ where she raised her family. Once her children started school she began working at ShopRite. Beloved wife of the late Ralph. Loving mother of Denise & her husband Nick Dasaro and the late John Joseph DeFilippis. Cherished grandmother of Jared. Dear sister of the late Fortune (Bill) Fuchs, Thomas "Pee Wee" DeFilippis, Nicholas (Ida) DeFilippis, Marie (Don) Pompei, Joseph "Moe" (Joy) DeFilippis, and Angelina DeFilippis. Heartfelt thanks to Gladys Lopez and Evelin Rojas for compassionately caring for Esther. Funeral Thursday 8:30AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral Mass 10AM St. Lucy's Church, Newark. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Friends will be received Wednesday 4-8PM.
