Frank Crawley, of Montclair, NJ, passed away on Saturday, January 19th at the age of 81. Frank was born in Suffern, NY and was raised in Sloatsburg where he developed an abiding love of fishing, hunting and small town life. Frank was graduated from Georgetown University and then served as a Lieutenant in the Army from 1955-1957. He married his college sweetheart, Hope Savage, and together they moved to Montclair in 1958.
Frank retired as Vice President of First Jersey National Bank in Jersey City, after starting his career with National Newark and Essex Bank. He also served as a Bank Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank.
Frank was a gifted storyteller. His work appeared in the New York Times and other, smaller publications. His passions included restoring antique clocks, gardening and old books. He was an active member in We Care and Men's Ministry at Immaculate Conception Church. He is survived by his wife, Hope, their children Pat D'Ambrosio, Frank Crawley, Anne Mernin, Michael Crawley, Joseph Crawley, Mary Lea Crawley, Matthew Crawley and Paul Crawley as well as their 17 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
A Memorial Mass was held at Immaculate Conception Church and his ashes have been interred at St. John's Church in Montclair. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: MaryKnoll Sisters, P.O.
