August 24, 1958 — June 4, 2024

North Arlington

Gary E. Giordano, 65, cherished son of Kathryn Ernest Giordano, passed away suddenly on June 4, 2024. He is survived by his heartbroken children Diana Gasparano & husband Thomas,  Gary Giordano Jr. & wife Jacqueline, Lisa Jett & husband Christopher, and the mother of his children Diane Giordano. He is the beloved PopPop to Thomas, Brielle, Ashlynn, Gavin, Amri, Hudson and Madeline. He is also survived by his brothers Richard & wife Denise, and Thomas & his wife Esther, along with many nieces and nephews.

Gary grew up in Lyndhurst and graduated LHS in 1976. He went on to attend college in Florida and continued his education when he returned to NJ at St. Peter’s College. He was also a licensed real estate agent. A proud resident of North Arlington for over 30 years, where he raised his three beautiful children. He sponsored and coached youth sports and was a boy scout leader. Gary enjoyed boating and spending time at his Curtis Point home where he served on their governing board for over 20 years. One of the things he really enjoyed was cheering on his New York Giants & was a season ticket holder for many years.

Gary was the president of Galaxy Recycling & Carting and JSI Carting in Jersey City, and of Liberty News Distributors based in Pa. He was successful and admired in the waste paper industry, having served as President of the New Jersey Paper Recycling Association.  In 2007 he was honored by the Italian Tribune Newspaper as Businessman of the year. In 2010 he was honored as Jersey City Businessman. Gary was a proud member of both the Knights of Columbus and the Dante Alighieri Society.

Gary had a contagious smile, and a larger than life presence, always ready to lend a helping hand. He was a very proud father, but his greatest joy has been his role as PopPop to his seven grandchildren that adored him. Gary was loved by many and will be sadly missed.
