Gilbert Walter Bowman

Gilbert Walter Bowman, Esq. 65, of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Born in Lyndhurst to the late George and Rose Bowman. Beloved husband of Louise Bowman (nee Gori). Loving father of Nicholas Bowman & his partner Aimee Wheeler, and Jessica Bowman & her fianc Daniel Picinich. Dear brother of George Bowman & his wife Barbara, Alice Orrick & her husband Herbert, and the late Rosemary DiNapoli. Cherished friend and colleague to many.

Gil loved his family above all else. He enjoyed spending time with them and sharing his passion for music, baseball, and books. He loved to spend mornings with his wife on the patio talking and having coffee. He took great pride in his children, including seeing their success in their business and publishing careers. He loved discussing music and sports with his son, and was proud of his son's original music and performances on stage. He loved to visit libraries, read, and discuss books with his daughter.

Gil was a self-employed attorney and highly regarded by his peers. Graduate of Queen of Peace High School, Fordham University, and Georgetown Law School, Gil practiced law for over 30 years. He began his career in the Washington, D.C. office of Kirlin, Campbell & Keating, which was one of the oldest and largest firms in the country at that time. After leaving Kirlin, he returned to New Jersey where he worked at Bruinooge and Associates, then went on to form his own practice. At first, he focused on commercial litigation, and subsequently transitioned his practice to business, commercial and real estate law. He was honored with the AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating, which has been used to recognize lawyers for their legal ability and ethical standards for over 100 years.

Gil should be remembered for his passionate spirit, his brilliant mind, his dedication to his family and friends, and his commitment to doing right by others.

Friends and family will be received at Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Sunday, January 30th from 2-6 PM. Funeral Monday at 9AM from the funeral home.
