Horace R. Bogle, Jr.

Horace R. Bogle, Jr., 94, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2016. Beloved husband of 56 years to the late Louise Bogle (nee Chenette). Loving father of Elizabeth Bogle Rohwer & her partner Dennis Hadley, Kathleen (Bogle) Lehmann & her husband Eric Lehmann, Donna (Bogle) Gomes & her husband Antonio Gomes, Jean Bogle & her husband Paul Vagianos and the late Ronald Bogle. Dear father-in-law of Denise Bogle (Drozdowski). Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Ian, Jessica, Elizabeth, Cassandra, Sabrina & Alanna. Adored great-grandfather of Brecklyn & Olivia. Mr. Bogle was a Lieutenant and Aircraft Fighter Director in the Navy during World War II serving 1942-1946, 19 months in the Pacific on 26 destroyers and the Battleship New Jersey. He received the Bronze Star and the Navy Communications Medals. Mr. Bogle, an attorney in private practice for over 60 years, was Magistrate in Lyndhurst 1954-1961, Commissioner of Lyndhurst 1961-1969 and Mayor of Lyndhurst 1965-1969. He was President of Lyndhurst Lions Club, a member of American Legion Barringer-Walker-LoPinto Post 139 and a Chairman of Red Cross fund drives. He received his BA from Rutgers University in 1942 and LLB from Rutgers Law School in 1949. Memorial service Thursday 6:45 PM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Private cremation. Friends will be received Thursday 3-7 PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Horace's name may be made to a Veteran's organization of your choice.
