Howard F. Meyer, 88, passed away on Friday, January 15, 2010 of natural causes. Born April 6, 1921 in New York City, a lifelong resident of Fort Lee, NJ, he worked in the film business as a proud member of Local 52 IATSE. He was very fond of his profession and had many adventures traveling the country while working at CBS for 60 Minutes. Howard was a WWII Army Veteran who proudly served his country from 1941 to 1945. The son of a New York City firefighter, Howard was known to his family and friends as "Nebs" since the age of seven. He was a boxer, a world traveler, and an avid stock market investor. Howard was predeceased by his wife Mary Ellen (Troy) Meyer in 1987, his brother William Francis Meyer, his sister Mildred Bostic, his son-in-law John Arthur Petrillo in 1998 and his son-in-law Gary White in 2003. His is survived by his sister-in-law Doris Troy Frew of Chadwick Beach, NJ, daughter Patricia Petrillo of Island Heights, NJ, daughter Katherine White of Storrs, CT, and son Howard and daughter-in-law D.Y. Begay of Scottsdale, AZ. Howard "Gramps" is also survived by his grandchildren, John & Marissa Petrillo of New York, NY, Joseph Petrillo of Springlake, NJ, Laurel & Diego Solis of Antigua, Guatemala, Devon White of Storrs, CT, Kelsey Meyer and Brandon Begay of Scottsdale, AZ and his great-granddaughter Amelie Petrillo of New York, NY. Howard once said about his work "I painted with light, met amazing people, and when the gates were shut we were all the same, we were all there to create something." He will be missed greatly by his family and everyone who knew him. Services Wednesday at 9 PM at Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Friends will be received Wednesday 1-3 & 6-9 PM.
