Ikpolor Omongiade "Christian" Idumwonyi

April 18, 1986 — August 2, 2018

On August 2, 2018, Iyekekpolor Omongiade Idumwonyi was called home to be with the Lord. Our family is experiencing an incredible sense of loss, sadness, grief, confusion and despair. Our hearts will never be the same. Iyekekpolor has gone too soon. He is irreplaceable and we will cherish and miss him forever.
We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of Iyekekpolor, the pride and joy of his parents and protector of and friend to his siblings. A dignified and loving man who was not only kindhearted, caring, reliable, selfless and kind, but was also incredibly intelligent, talented, and diligent. Iyekekpolor was born in Ekekhen, Nigeria on April 18th, 1986 to Samuel and Justina Idumwonyi. In his native language his first name Iyekekpolor means “I have strong people behind me” and his middle name Omongiade means "a child will always hold you up and never let you fall." He grew up in New York City before his family relocated to Fort Lee, NJ. He attended Lewis F. Cole Middle School, Fort Lee High School, and Rutgers University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Information Technology.
As an alumni Iyekekpolor donated to the School of Communication and Information Scholarship fund at Rutgers. During his leisure, Iyekekpolor enjoyed watching and engaging in array of sports such as volleyball, baseball, soccer, basketball, track and field, and both professional and college football. From a young age, he was extremely tech-savvy and great with hands-on projects. He had a diverse taste in music, his favorite musical group being “Journey” and enjoyed watching movies, documentaries and listening to podcasts.
Iyekekpolor was a son, brother, friend, uncle, brother-in-law, nephew, and cousin. He was well-loved and respected by those who not only knew him personally, but also those who briefly interacted with him.
Although Iyekekpolor was a man of a few words, he never failed to brighten even the darkest of days. He was silly, charming, and playful. Iyekekpolor was always willing to lend a helping hand, an attentive ear, and his time to help anyone in need as there was no favor that was too big or too small for him to honor.
Iyekekpolor is survived by his parents Samuel and Justina Idumwonyi, his siblings Sidney, Shirley, Wini, Jessica, Cece and Eseosa Idumwonyi, his brother-in-law Keilan Scott and his niece Emerson and nephew Logan.
Friends will be received Friday, August 10, 2-6PM at the Fort Lee Gospel Church, 1625 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee, with a service to follow immediately after. Arrangements under the direction of Hunt-Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee.
