James E. Canfield, 83, of Clifton, NJ, formerly of Lyndhurst, on Wednesday, April 16, 2008. Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Haggas). Loving father of James J. & his wife Kilcha, Elizabeth Earl & Larry Mathewson, Mary & her husband Leslie Locke, John & his wife Theresa, Daniel, Anne-Marie & her husband Robert Conklin and the late Michael. Dear brother of Martin. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Melissa, Megan, Stephanie, Amy, Patricia, Crystal, Gregory, James, Anthony, Amy, Daniel and David. Devoted great-grandfather of Zachary, Evan, Julian, Jeffery and Adam. Mr. Canfield was a Conductor for New Jersey Transit for 31 years before retiring in 1986. He was a Navy veteran of WW II and the Korean War, and an expert watch maker and woodcarver. Funeral Saturday at 9am from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10am Sacred Heart R.C. Church. Entombment Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum. Friends will be received Friday 2-4 and 7-9pm.
