James H. Mullaney

James H. Mullaney, of Lyndhurst, NJ, died on Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Compassionate Care Hospice, Dover, NJ. He was born in Bayonne, NJ on December 18, 1925 and raised in Jersey City before moving to Lyndhurst 56 years ago. Jim proudly served his country from 1944 through 1946 during WW II as a Corporal in the US Army. Jim was a radar operator who served on the troop ships returning from Europe. He was employed by Eastern Airlines in the In-Flight Services department, retiring in 1984 with 39 years of service. Jim was a member of the Barringer-Walker-Lopinto Post #139 of the American Legion and had recently received a citation for 52 years of continuous membership. Jim was an avid traveler and together with his late wife Helene took 19 cruises and many other trips with family and friends. He was an enthusiastic fan of the NY Giants and Notre Dame University football teams. Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years Helene (Heffner). He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, David & Diane McDougall of Randolph, NJ; Chris Takacs & Linda Mullaney of Lyndhurst; three grandchildren, Matthew & Joseph Haun and Amanda Eisenstein, and his devoted canine companion Didi. Funeral service Monday at 11 AM at the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Interment Hillside Cemetery . Friends will be received Sunday 1:30-6 PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be offered to Barringer-Walker-Lopinto American Legion Post #139, PO Box 382, Lyndhurst NJ 07071 or your favorite animal charity.
