James J. Burns

James J. Burns, 81, of Palisades Park, New Jersey, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on December 29, 2014. Beloved husband of 62 years to the late Nancy Burns. Loving father of James Burns & wife Gail, Kathleen & her husband George Venidis, Maureen Tansey and William Burns. Dear brother-in-law of Frances Heffler. Adored grandfather of Heather, Allison & Kenny Tansey, Alex & Michael Venidis, Daniel & Erin Burns, Michelle & her husband Michael Pompano and Ian & Leyna Burns. Jim was predeceased by his beautiful daughter, Joanne Burns and devoted son-in-law, Ken Tansey. A most loyal family man, Jim devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren who were a constant presence and filled his home with joy and laughter. Jim retired as a Superintendent of Palisades Park D.P.W. He was a dedicated public servant and a strong believer in giving back to his community. Jim served countless hours as part of the Palisades Park Volunteer Fire Department, Municipal Planning Board, Parking Advisory Committee and also served as a County Committee Member. Funeral Saturday, January 3rd at 10 AM from the Hunt Stellato Funeral Home, 1601 Palisade Avenue, Fort Lee. Funeral Mass 11 AM St. Michael's R.C. Church, 19 East Central Blvd, Palisades Park. The family will receive friends Friday, January 2nd from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
