James V. Smith, 71, of Rutherford, NJ on Sunday, December 4, 2011. Beloved husband of Betty (nee Galloway) Smith. Loving father of Kathleen & her husband Ken Porro, James V. Smith, Jr., and Susan Smith. Dear brother of Connie Roche, Maureen O'Keefe, and Kenny Smith. Cherished grandfather of Kyle & Konnor Porro. Also survived by his stepchildren Kevin & Heather Benoit and stepgrandchildren Kayden Benoit & Kevin Benoit, Jr. He was predeceased by his first wife Claire (nee Cook) Smith. Mr. Smith was born and raised in Jersey City. He was a proud Army veteran. Mr. Smith worked for Port Authority as an Engineer for over 30 years. He also coached Rutherford Little League. He loved music, travel and enjoyed life. Funeral Friday at 8:45 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10 AM Corpus Christi Church, Hasbrouck Heights. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM and Thursday 4-8 PM.
