Jean S. Bernstein

Jean Bernstein, of Somerset, New Jersey, formerly of Clifton, New Jersey, passed away on December 6, 2017 at the age of 87 after a short illness. She was predeceased by her husband Abbot, her sister Margaret (Peggy) Frank, and her parents Dr. William and Frances Schwartz. She is survived by her sons Eric and Paul, her daughters-in-law Merrie and Ann Marie, and her favorite grandson Matthew. She was a devoted educator serving as an English teacher and guidance counselor in the Clifton New Jersey school system for more than thirty years. She was President of the Clifton Teachers Association for two terms, as well as a Board Trustee on the Clifton Board of Education and on the Franklin Township New Jersey Board of Education. She also served as a Trustee for the JFK Democratic Club in Franklin and was an active volunteer. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to movies and plays, playing cards, and dining out. Services will be private.
