Joan M Purwin

Joan M. Purwin(nee Cushman), 86, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey (formerly of Jersey City, NJ) passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 27, 2017. Joan was born in Signac, New Jersey. Joan grew up in Jersey City and graduated from Lincoln High School. She is predeceased by her husband, Karzmierz J. (Walter) Purwin, her parents, Herbert & Regina Cushman and her two brothers, Arthur & Charles Cushman. Joan is the dear sister of Harold Cushman & his wife, Elizabeth. She was a beloved & devoted mom of 7 children: Dorothy Fucito (Louis), Patricia Purwin, Ronald Purwin (Felicia), Thomas Purwin (Rosemary), Walter Purwin, David Purwin (Leslie), and Joan Barone (Louis). Her beloved grandchildren: Paul Fucito (Britt), Lisa Fucito (Paul Ust), Vanessa Purwin, Nicole Purwin, Tamara Cullere (Jason), Anthony Barone (Janine), Ashley Purwin (Jeff Mullen), Corey Purwin (Claudia Serna), Louis Barone, Jay Purwin, Christina Barone, Ivonne, Elle & Marcangel. As well as her great-grandchildren: Adrian, Evan, Liam, Sofia, Olivia, Benjamin & Tyler. Plus many nieces & nephews who were close and dear to her heart. Prior to her retirement Joan was a Court Clerk in the Hudson County Superior Court System as well as a Notary Public. She was very active in her church community of St. Joseph's volunteering in the Rosary Society, PTA, bingo and the annual carnival. Joan's piano playing, knitting and crocheting, scrabble and card playing will be missed by family and friends as well as her quick wit, pot roast and enjoyment of hot fudge sundaes. Funeral Monday 9:30AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 11AM St. Joseph Parish, Jersey City. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
