John Golda

September 15, 1919 — April 30, 2016

John Golda 96 years old of Rutherford New Jersey, lived in Kearny and Newark passed away on April the 30th at home surrounded by his wife, his children and grandchildren.


John was born in Konieczkowa, Niebylec in Poland. During WWII, he was taken to Germany and worked in the German work camps. After the war he moved to Brazil. He came to America with his wife and oldest daughter in 1955 and became a proud citizen of the United States in 1963. He enjoyed dancing, playing cards, taking care of his garden and feeding his birds.

He worked for Pfaff & Kendall as a machine operator in Newark until he retired 31 years ago.

John is survived by his wife of 68 years, Maria (Martha) Janeczek, and children Christine Pope, George Golda and Regina Iannotti, sons-in law, Peter Pope and Louis Iannotti, and daughter in law, the late Diane Golda and grandchildren, Corinn, Christopher, Juliana, Jennifer and Thomas. Many nieces and nephews in the US and Poland. Predeceased by 5 bothers and 6 sisters. One younger brother still in Poland.

Funeral Mass Wednesday, 10 AM at St Casmir's R.C. Church, Newark, NJ. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Casimir's Church 164 Nichols Street Newark NJ 07105.
