John J. Fekety

August 15, 1927 — September 10, 2018

John J. Fekety, 91, of Bayonne, New Jersey passed away on Monday, September 10, 2018. Loving father of John Fekety and Karen Main & her husband Richard. Dear brother of Emery Fekety and the late Mary Wicke. Cherished grandfather of Alan Main and Kelsey Brown & her husband Ryan. Also survived by Dorothy. John was a retired Executive employed by New Jersey Bell Telephone Company. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II and past Post Commander of the Catholic War Veterans (Post 621) in Bayonne as well as past Commander of Catholic War Veterans of Hudson County. Mr. Fekety was a member of many organizations including the Hudson County Democratic General Assembly(1966-69), Councilman for the city of Bayonne (1970-74), Bayonne Board of Adjustments and Planning Board, and Grand Jury Association. In 1983 Mr. Fekety was a Trustee for the South Shore Village Leased Housing Corporation a not-for-profit organization until 2000. From 1985-2002 he was a consultant to the accounting firm of Suplee, Clooney and Company, who's major clients were local governments and Boards of Education. John was honored during the Bayonne Memorial Day Parade by being appointed the Grand Marshall. He was a life member of the Knights of Columbus #371 of Bayonne. Friends will be received Saturday 2-6pm for a memorial gathering at the Caiola-Stellato Funeral Home, 691 Avenue C, Bayonne. Burial will be private.
