DeFilippis, John Joseph, 56, of Totowa NJ, formerly of Avon IN, passed away on Thursday February 9, 2017. Born in Newark he moved to Washington at the age of 3 and graduated from Warren Hills Regional High School. While in Washington, he was a volunteer firefighter and EMT and avid bowler with several 300 games. He began his career in the National Hot Rod Association in 1992 working on several funny car and dragster race teams in every capacity including co-crew chief on a top fuel dragster. His teams have won the prestigious US Nationals several times, among many other "Wallys" throughout his career.
Beloved son of Esther & the late Ralph DeFilippis. Loving brother of Denise & her husband Nick Dasaro. Cherished uncle of Jared Dasaro. Also survived by a large extended family including 27 first cousins. Dear friend of Cody and the NHRA brotherhood. Funeral Tuesday at 9:30AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral Mass 11AM St. Lucy's Church, Newark. Cremation Private.
