John Joseph Murtha Sr.

John Joseph Murtha, Sr., 82, of Lyndhurst, formerly of Hoboken, NJ, a loving family man, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 18, 2010. Beloved husband of 56 years to Doris (nee Kruse) Murtha. Loving father Lorraine and her husband Jack Zahn, John Murtha Jr., Robert Murtha, Bryan Murtha, Bill Murtha. Dear brother of T. Robert Murtha. Cherished grandfather of Stephen, Kelly, and Jacqueline Zahn and Andrew, Christine, Audrey and Emily Mae Murtha. Mr. Murtha was born in Hoboken in 1928 son of Thomas & Mae Murtha. He served in the Army during the Korean War. Mr. Murtha married his long-time sweetheart, Doris (nee Kruse) and moved to Lyndhurst in 1957. He was formerly employed as a printer at the American Can Company & was an active member of the Lyndhurst Elks and American Legion. Funeral Thursday at 9:00AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ. Funeral Mass 10:00 AM St Michael's RC Church. Interment Crest Haven Memorial Park. Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
