Joseph A. Parisi, 83, passed away peacefully on August 15, 2023 in the company of loving relatives and friends. Joe was born and raised in Jersey City. During and following his studies at Ferris High School, Joe devotedly worked to help care for his beloved mother, Theresa (née Mangano), until her passing in 1969. Soon thereafter, Joe moved to the Jersey Shore, and while working initially in manufacturing, and later in the retail sector, he maintained a variety of hobbies and interests, including music, art, and gardening. Joe's drawings and paintings delighted his family and friends, and his "green thumb" produced many beautiful rose bushes and his favorite edible crop: long hot peppers that he sun-dried, fried in olive oil, and enjoyed with crusty Italian bread and a glass of wine or beer. To those who knew Joe well, he will be remembered for his fierce love of family, his Catholic faith and devotion to the Blessed Mother, his unique sense of humor, and his memorable one-liners.
Joe was predeceased by two dear sisters, Anne Saporito and Donna Stephens. He is survived by two dear sisters, Irene DiGuilio of Whiting, and Marie DiGuglielmo of Mays Landing; eight loving nieces, Rosemarie Giordano, Diane Grammerstorf, Barbara Blaisdell, Deborah Myers, Doreen Sauerborn, Donna Bunnell, Ann Appel, and Theresa DiGuglielmo; multiple caring nephews-in-law, great-nieces, great-nephews, and other extended relatives.
His family gratefully acknowledges the extraordinary Parker at Somerset care team and staff, who helped to fill Joe's final years with friendship and joy, and who were instrumental in ensuring a peaceful passage to his heavenly reward.
A private celebration of Joe's life is planned.
