Joseph Balesterri

Joseph Balesterri of Brick, NJ passed away on Sat., March 14th at home at the age of 80. Jose was know by most as Gumbo. The son of Amelia and Frank Balesterri, he was born and grew up in Jersey City. His loving family includes his devoted wife of 58 years, Rita (nee White) and daughters Janet Beene and Joyce Bartlett. Joe has four grandsons, Joe and Jason Beene and John Joseph and Scott Bartlett and three great-grandaughters, Mirabelle, Lyla Rose, and Fabiola. He is preceeded in death by his brother Nicholas (Dekay) and sister Cetta. He is survived by brother Frank (Bing) and sister Genevieve. Joe worked for Union Terminal Cold Storage in Jersey City for 42 years. He resided in North Arlington for 35 years before retiring to Brick in 1991. Joe will Forever be remembered as a loving husband and father. He was a kind-hearted man loved by all who ever met him and most enjoyed being around loved ones. He was a wonderful storyteller and teacher of life lessons. Funeral Wednesday at 10AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home 425 Ridge Rd. Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 11AM Queen of Peace RC Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received Tuesday 3-8PM.
