Joseph Cutruzzula, of Brick, formerly from Lyndhurst, New Jersey, was a USMC veteran and a retired police officer of the Jersey City Police Department. Joe, 81, passed away on Memorial Day, Monday, May 25, 2015, a testament to his patriotic life. Joe was born April 5, 1934 and raised in Jersey City and was a resident of Lyndhurst from 1963-1998 and then retired to Lions Head South in Brick, NJ. He was a veteran who honorably served his country with pride in the US Marine Corps as a Sergeant from 1954-1957. He also was employed by the National Security Association. Joe was an iron worker for Local 45 and a retired Police Officer who served with integrity for the Jersey City Police Department before retiring in 1991. Joe loved the Yankees and enjoyed golfing. He excelled at everything he attempted and prided himself on his family. Joe is survived by the "love of his life" wife, Theresa (nee Napolitano); his loving children, Joseph T. & his wife Linda, Michael & his wife Carol, and Carrie Cutruzzula; his eldest grandson, Joseph Thomas Jr. & his wife Maria, his newly married grandson, Jesse & his wife Sidney, Michael Jr., Ryan, Mackenzie, Kayla (predeceased), Darren and Derek; great-grandsons, Joseph Thomas III and Nicholas Rocco. He is predeceased by his brother Samuel and is survived by his children Samuel and Angel of Arizona and their family, along with countless friends and family members. He is also predeceased by his beloved mother, Lena and father, Joseph from North Arlington. Joe was diagnosed with COPD in March, 2014 and fought valiantly, without complaint, and with dignity. Joe was a loving, wonderful husband married 60 years to his childhood sweetheart Terry, an amazing father, doting grandpop and a loyal friend. He was adored by his family. Joe is proof a modest man can be a giant and will be eternally missed by all of us! Funeral Friday at 9 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10 AM Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church. Cremation private. Friends will be received Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
