Joseph Merle

Merle, Joseph , 97, of Lyndhurst, New Jersey, passed away on July 20, 2024 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family. Beloved husband of the late Terry Merle. Loving father of Joseph C. & his wife Arlene Merle, Lucille & her husband Dennis Van Dyk, Frank Merle, and Theresa M. Merle. Cherished grandfather of David & his wife Maribel Merle, Nicholas Merle, Kevin Van Dyk, James Merle, and Philip & his fiancé Alyssa. Dear brother of the late Peter, Frank, Arthur, Robert, & Michael Merle. Joseph is also survived by his brother Edward & his wife Lorraine Merle and his sister-in-law Julie Merle. Mr. Merle was a Navy Veteran who served his country in WWII. He was a diesel mechanic at Cambria Mack in Elmwood Park for over 20 years. He went on to work with his sons in construction until he was 89. Joseph was an avid Yankees fan and Giants fan, but he despised the "ny" on the Giants helmet. Funeral Friday, July 26th at 9 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 425 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst. Funeral Mass 10 AM St. Michaels, Lyndhurst. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery.
