Karl Strom, 76, of Fairfield and Long Beach Island, New Jersey passed away on November 10, 2017, after succumbing to a long battle with cancer. Karl is survived by his wife Lorain of 53 years, son Dr. Karl Strom, daughter Jennifer Strom, grandchildren Rebecca, Matthew, Nicholas, sister Arlene Bischof and brother-in-law Walter. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Karl was a loving grandfather, father, husband & friend to all.
Karl grew up in Belleville, NJ and graduated from Belleville High School before moving to Fairfield where he resided for 51 years.
Karl worked as a pressman at the Star Ledger, in Newark, Piscataway & Montville branches. He retired after printing the newspaper for over 25 years, his favorite of course the flyers in the Sunday paper. He was also a National Guard Veteran. Karl loved to watch his grandchildren play hockey, field hockey, and figure skating. He attended all school plays and never missed a parade.
Karl especially loved spending time in Long Beach Island with his family. He would watch his grandchildren fish and swim in the ocean from his favorite bench. Pa-pa could be seen everyday from the top of the 16th street bench or in front of his home waving to all the people as they walked by. He will be dearly missed by all.
