Kathleen Lois Gallo

Kathleen Lois Gallo, ne Rowe, of Kinnelon, NJ died on Thursday, November 10, 2011 in Morristown. The eldest of four siblings, she was born the only daughter of Lois Joan and Raymond Rowe, Sr., on April 14, 1951 in Newark.She studied Nursing at Bloomfield College, where she met her husband, Joseph Gallo, Jr. in Introductory Spanish class. She graduated with her B.S. and earned her R.N. in 1973 and was married in Bloomfield Presbyterian Church on the Green on June 1, 1975.She began her career in the Concentrated Care Unit of Moutainside Hospital in Montclair and went on to work in the Montclair Medical Group and to teach as a Clinical Instructor and Student Advisor at her Alma Mater. After taking fifteen years to rear her four children, she returned to nursing and teaching in 1993 as the School Nurse at Fairview Elementary School. Kathleen was a fierce and avid participant in her children's lives. She cheered loudest from the sidelines of baseball diamonds, soccer fields, and basketball courts, the decks of swimming pools, and the houses of countless plays, concerts, and dance recitals. Between serving as the Secretary of the Fayson Lakes Swim Club and teaching her kids how to ride a bike, she enjoyed time at the beach, planting flowers, and crafting the finest meatballs around. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her three sons, Michael with his fiance E. Dale Smith of New York City, Matthew with his wife Michelle of University Park, TX, Joseph Ryan with his wife Lindsay of San Antonio; her daughter Lauren of Kinnelon; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Patricia Rowe, Kenneth A. Rowe, and Ron and Kathy Rowe; 10 nieces and nephews; and two devoted Shih Tzus, Bailey and Holly. Funeral Monday at 9 AM from the Ippolito-Stellato Funeral Home, 7 Two Bridges Road, Fairfield. Funeral service 10 AM Butler United Methodist Church. Friends will be received Saturday & Sunday 2-6 PM.
